Our institution does not provide X-ray services. For this reason, patients may be asked to bring one X-ray film to their appointments. When requesting an appointment, patients must indicate any risk factors they may have (systemic diseases, infectious diseases, etc.) for preparatory treatment.

Patients who are 15 minutes or more late for their appointment may need to schedule a new appointment to avoid disrupting the next appointment and to ensure sufficient time for a proper examination/treatment. Patients who are unable to attend their appointment must notify the system in advance online at randevu@gtu.edu.tr.

PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE SERVICES

Our institution provides Psychological Counseling and Guidance Services. Individuals can apply by making an online appointment through the “Appointment Tracking System” (randevu@gtu.edu.tr) on our university's main website. Services are available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and are not provided on weekends or public holidays.

PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE SERVICES PROCEDURES

1- Individual Psychotherapy

For individual consultations, it is important to schedule an appointment only through the appointment system (randevu@gtu.edu.tr) to avoid conflicts with other appointments. Consultations with individuals who apply to our center are conducted in person or online (Microsoft Teams) and last an average of 45 minutes.

Online sessions are preferred for urgent cases; however, in-person sessions are recommended to maximize the benefits of the session. If you have chosen an online session, please wait for the psychologist to contact you via the Microsoft Teams program. No links will be shared beforehand; only messaging will be available.

PLEASE NOTE: When scheduling an appointment through the appointment system, it is important to specify your meeting type of choice (online or in-person) in the comments section.

Individuals who are 15 minutes or more late for their appointment may need to schedule a new appointment to avoid disrupting the next appointment and to ensure sufficient time for a healthy process. Individiuals who are unable to attend their appointment must notify the system in advance online at randevu@gtu.edu.tr

During sessions, communication, identity search and loneliness issues, coping with stress, anxiety problems, depressive problems, family-related problems, obsessive behaviors, dealing with antisocial behaviors, and problem-solving skills are addressed. Awareness is sought to be increased.

Methods and techniques that empower the individual to cope with identified problems are applied. Sometimes the individual is given small homework assignments, while other times discussions are held and work is done on the meaning they attach to the problem.

2- Group Psychotherapy

Group psychotherapy involves bringing together individuals experiencing similar problems to form therapy groups. The goal is to make the individual feel that other people are experiencing similar difficulties, to make them feel that the problem is widespread, and to ensure that group members have a therapeutic effect on each other through group dynamics.

3- Referrals

After one or more sessions, if the individual requires psychiatric or other specialist support, they will be referred accordingly. It should be noted that, in necessary cases, the best treatment for psychological problems is provided through a combination of medication and psychotherapy.

3- Psychological Tests and Inventories

The process includes tests and inventories conducted when necessary to better identify the problem experienced by the individual, determine methods for solving the problem, and gain knowledge about the individual's mental state and personality.

4- Training Seminars

Seminars are held for students and staff on topics requested by the student clubs, faculties, and the Rectorate, or deemed necessary by our center.

5- Preparation of Documents and Brochures

Brochures and posters are occasionally prepared to inform students on various topics, and awareness campaigns are conducted to promote the unit and provide information on psychological issues.

6- Preventive Measures

The goal is to review the health information forms of students who are new to the university, identify those who have experienced or are experiencing past or ongoing psychological disorders, inform them about our center, let them know that a specialist is always available, and aim to dispel misconceptions about therapists/psychotherapy. Such preventive measures aim to facilitate the search for help as soon as an individual begins to deal with their problems.
