“Effective Communication with Individuals with Special Needs” will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 14:00 within the scope of Industrial Design Department Activities. Assist. Prof. Dr. Nehir TAŞTAN, an online seminar will be held in Microsoft Teams environment in MİMF316 Design for All course.

The seminar titled “Effective Communication with Individuals with Special Needs” will be hosted by Hanife BAYKAL FINDIK, Advisor to the President of Beyazay Association of Turkey. In the event, information about the points to be considered in the communication process with the disabled will be shared.

Hanife BAYKAL FINDIK completed her undergraduate education at Istanbul University, Department of Sociology. She completed her undergraduate education in the field of Behavioral Sciences at Newport International University with her thesis titled “Findings on the Vocational Training Process of Visually Impaired People”. Between 2003-2009, he worked as a Computer Instructor / Adult Disability Education Coordinator at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Center for the Disabled (ISEM). Between 2010 and 2022, he worked as the Project Coordinator for the Disabled Career of Beyazay Association of Turkey and carried out the processes of employment, orientation and job follow-up of disabled individuals in accordance with their skills and interests. In 2023, he served as a member of the evaluation board at Teknofest Barrier-Free Life Technologies Competition. Since 2015, Disability and Privacy: Since 2015, she has been continuing her work in the field of 'Engelli Mahremiyeti' on social media (@engellimahremiyeti). She has participated as a speaker in various national and international congresses on the topics of “Inadequacy and Consequences of Sexual Education in Mentally Disabled People”, “Problems Encountered in Vocational Rehabilitation of Visually Impaired People and Solution Suggestions”. She has published articles in international refereed journals with the title of “Sexual Education Inadequacy and Results in Mentally Disabled People”.

The seminar is suitable for GTU110 Scientific and Technological Activity Course.

The event is open to all interested parties across the faculty and the university.
