August 31, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — In line with the decision of the University Senate and Presidential Decision No. 11681 dated August 30, 2026, the name of the Institute of Information Technologies at Gebze Technical University (GTU) has been changed to the “Institute of Artificial Intelligence,” which has officially begun its activities. The decision was published in the Official Gazette No. 33356 dated August 31, 2026, and entered into force.
Strengthening Scientific Research Capacity The Institute of Artificial Intelligence aims to strengthen the university’s scientific research capacity in the field of artificial intelligence in terms of both infrastructure and human resources, conduct pioneering research at national and international levels, and contribute to the development of qualified human resources capable of shaping the technologies of the future. Through the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, GTU will continue to contribute to Türkiye’s technology and innovation vision for the coming period.
Interdisciplinary Research and Strong Collaborations Operating with the aim of conducting innovative projects in information technologies and applied artificial intelligence, the Institute serves as an interdisciplinary research and application center. The Institute continues its activities in close collaboration with other academic divisions, particularly the GTU Department of Computer Engineering, as well as national and international research centers, public institutions, and industry.
Applied Solutions for Industry Contributing to the scientific literature in line with the rapidly changing and evolving nature of artificial intelligence technologies, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence carries out applicable projects for industry and aims to transform the results obtained into practical solutions. Seeking to build strong bridges between the university and industry and address societal and sectoral needs, the Institute continues its activities with the goal of playing a pioneering role in the research community. |
