— A study on artificial intelligence in pediatric urology conducted jointly by Gebze Technical University and Demiroğlu Bilim University becomes the only paper from Türkiye selected for the “Award Papers” session at APAPU 2026.

The 26th Congress of the Asian Pacific Association of Pediatric Urologists (APAPU 2026), which will bring together clinicians and researchers in the field of pediatric urology from different countries in Istanbul, is set to feature a significant academic achievement from Türkiye. An artificial intelligence study prepared through interdisciplinary collaboration by Asst. Prof. İlhan Aytutuldu, a faculty member of the Cybersecurity Vocational School at Gebze Technical University (GTU), has been selected for presentation in the “Award Papers” session as part of the “APAPU–Marco Polo Best Paper Presentation” program at the congress.

The Only Paper Selected From Türkiye

The research, titled “Automated Interpretation of Pediatric Urodynamics Using Multimodal Artificial Intelligence,” has achieved the distinction of being the only paper from Türkiye selected for the Award Papers session, one of the congress’s most prestigious presentation sessions.

Strong Interdisciplinary Collaboration

The study brings together the clinical expertise of Prof. Ş. Kerem Özel and İbrahim Alataş, PhD, from the Faculty of Medicine at Demiroğlu Bilim University with Gebze Technical University’s expertise in artificial intelligence and engineering.

GTU plays a leading role in developing the artificial intelligence and engineering infrastructure of the research. The process, carried out in collaboration with GTU faculty members Prof. Yusuf Sinan Akgül and Asst. Prof. İlhan Aytutuldu, continues to develop multimodal artificial intelligence methods aimed at supporting clinical decision-making mechanisms in the interpretation of pediatric urodynamic studies.
