August 28, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — With the approval of Dear Mr. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, GTU Rector Prof. DHacı Ali Mantar, whose appointment as rector has been renewed, received his certificate of election from the President of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), Prof. Erol Özvar, at a ceremony held at the Council of Higher Education.
Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, who has been reappointed as Rector of Gebze Technical University (GTU) with the approval of Dear Mr. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attended the Certificate of Election Presentation Ceremony organized by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE). At the ceremony, during which the certificates of election were presented by CoHE President Prof. Erol Özvar to the academics appointed as rectors, comprehensive evaluations were made regarding the current state and future of Turkish higher education.
Goals and Academic Capacity in Higher Education Addressed As part of the program, the short-, medium-, and long-term goals of higher education, enhancing academic quality, scientific productivity, institutional development, and the contributions universities can make to the country's development vision were discussed in detail. On the occasion of the ceremony, views were exchanged on strategic objectives for strengthening the academic and scientific capacity of higher education institutions.
CoHE President Özvar: “We Will Advance Our Scientific Capacity With the Higher Education 2030 Vision” Speaking at the ceremony, CoHE President Prof. Erol Özvar congratulated the academics appointed as rectors and stated:
“We hosted the academics appointed as rectors with the approval of our Dear President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at the Council of Higher Education and presented their certificates of election. We attach importance to each of our universities accurately assessing its own potential, areas of strength, and the opportunities offered by the region in which it is located, and transforming these into a strategic advantage. Enabling our universities to become institutions that differentiate themselves through their own competencies and stand out through the value they generate is one of the fundamental approaches of our Higher Education 2030 vision. With this understanding, we will jointly advance the scientific capacity and international impact of our higher education system. I wish our rectors’ new terms of office to be beneficial for our rectors, universities, and the higher education community, and I wish our rector colleagues every success.” |
