August 10, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — Assoc. Prof. Nursel Erey has received ICM 2026 Travel Grant, funded by the Simons Foundation in collaboration with the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and its Commission for Developing Countries (CDC). Erey attended the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2026) held in Philadelphia, USA. — At the congress, she delivered a talk titled “Linearity Index in the Interval of Matching Numbers.”
Gebze Technical University (GTU) Department of Mathematics faculty member Assoc. Prof. Nursel Erey has received the international travel award granted by the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and the Simons Foundation in July.
As part of the award, Erey attended the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2026), held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, from July 23 to 30, 2026, where she delivered a talk titled “Linearity Index in the Interval of Matching Numbers.”
Research on Algebraic Structures and Combinatorics Assoc. Prof. Nursel Erey conducts research at the intersection of abstract commutative algebra and combinatorics. Her work explores the combinatorial nature of algebraic structures and the structural relationships between these disciplines.
