August 6, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — Prof. Yelda Özden-Çiftçi, a faculty member in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Gebze Technical University (GTU), has been appointed Guest Editor for a special issue of the IJMS, an internationally recognized Q1 journal.
Prof. Yelda Özden-Çiftçi, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics in the Faculty of Science and Director of the GTU Smart Agriculture Research and Application Center (GTU-ATAM), has been appointed Guest Editor of the special issue titled "Research on Plant-Microbe Interaction", to be published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (IJMS, MDPI), one of the world's leading international scientific journals.
Plant–microbe interactions represent a critical area of research for advancing sustainable agriculture, improving plant health, developing biofertilizers, and enhancing climate-resilient agricultural production systems. This special issue aims to bring together the latest research revealing the complex molecular communication mechanisms between plants and microorganisms.
The special issue welcomes original research articles and review papers focusing on, but not limited to, the following topics: Genomic architecture of plant–microbe interaction networks Symbiotic systems designed as alternatives to synthetic nitrogen fertilizers Next-generation microbial inoculants that enhance crop yield and tolerance to abiotic stress Functional metagenomics approaches for plant breeding and crop improvement strategies
Open to researchers worldwide, the special issue aims to bring together scientists working in plant biology, molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biotechnology, and agricultural sciences.
The manuscript submission deadline is January 31, 2027. The special issue is available at https://www.mdpi.com/journal/ijms/special_issues/91T6Y076QC.
Prof. Yelda Özden Çiftçi's appointment as Guest Editor represents a significant academic achievement that further strengthens Gebze Technical University's international visibility in the fields of plant biotechnology and molecular biology. |
