July 28, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — The GTU Department of Computer Engineering hosted faculty members from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, for a two-day academic visit, laying the foundation for international and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Department of Computer Engineering at Gebze Technical University (GTU) hosted Zartasha Mustansar, PhD, and Farkhanda Afzal, PhD, from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Pakistan as part of a two-day academic visit. During the visit, interdisciplinary research presentations were delivered, and opportunities for inter-institutional collaboration were discussed in detail.
Interdisciplinary Research and Industrial Perspectives Shared As part of the academic program, Zartasha Mustansar, PhD, Head of the Biomechanics Laboratory at the School of Interdisciplinary Engineering and Sciences (SINES) at NUST, presented her research in the field of biomechanics. From the GTU Department of Computer Engineering, Asst. Prof İlhan Aytutuldu, Asst. Prof. Güzin Kaya-Aytutuldu, and Zehra Bilici shared the department's ongoing research activities. İsmail Uzun, PhD, from BeCure Global GmbH also participated in the event, sharing his industry experience and professional perspective with the participants.
The sessions were further enriched by the contributions of Prof. Burcu Ersöz-Hüseyinsinoğlu from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Marmara University and Assoc. Prof. Recep Önler from the GTU Department of Mechanical Engineering, who shared their valuable insights during the discussions.
Discussions on Joint Research in Mathematics and Computer Algebra The academic exchange continued across additional disciplines. Prof. Coşkun Yakar, Head of the GTU Department of Mathematics, Asst. Prof. Hadi Alizadeh, and Tülay Ayyıldız, PhD, from the Department of Computer Engineering met with Farkhanda Afzal, PhD, from the NUST Department of Mathematics. During the meeting, the participants explored potential joint research projects in the fields of computer algebra and related areas of mathematics.
Agreement Reached To Organize Joint Workshops During the meetings, the GTU and NUST teams agreed to organize joint workshops in the fields of biomechanics, computer vision (image processing), and physiotherapy, laying the foundation for a lasting international partnership. |
