GTU Industrial Design Student Wins Modern Packaging Design Award

Ayşe Ezgi Nart, a first-year student in the Department of Industrial Design at the Faculty of Architecture of Gebze Technical University (GTU), is honored with the Design Award in the “Alternative Designs With Corrugated Cardboard Competition” organized by Modern Ambalaj.

Nart participated in the competition with her project titled “NEST”, developed under the theme of functional children's room products designed using corrugated cardboard. Competing against entries from across Türkiye, she advanced to the top 10 finalists. Following the final evaluation, her project has been selected to receive the Design Award.

A Modular Living Space for Children

The award-winning “NEST” project offers a modular living space where children can play, relax, and organize their personal belongings. Combining the creative and functional use of corrugated cardboard, a sustainable material, with a user-centered design approach, the project has been recognized by the jury for its innovative concept.

This achievement, earned during the very first year of the Department of Industrial Design, which began its educational activities in the 2025–2026 Academic Year, highlights the design capabilities and potential of its students.
