— The Kocaeli–Istanbul Friendship Tennis Tournament, held from June 26–28, 2026, brought together 32 tennis players from the Gebze region, Istanbul, and Eskişehir.

— The tournament was jointly organized by the Çayırova District Governor's Office and Gebze Technical University (GTU).

The Kocaeli–Istanbul Friendship Tennis Tournament was hosted by Gebze Technical University (GTU), bringing the excitement of competitive tennis to its sports-friendly campus.

In line with its vision of a dynamic and sustainable campus, GTU continues to serve as a hub for academic, social, and sporting activities. Guided by its "24/7 Living Campus" motto and its identity as a sports-friendly university, GTU hosted another meaningful event aimed at strengthening regional integration and fostering connections between neighboring cities. Organized for the fourth time through the collaboration of the Çayırova District Governor's Office and GTU, the tournament welcomed tennis enthusiasts and athletes from different cities to the university campus.

Trophy Ceremony Marks the Tournament Finale

Following three days of highly competitive matches, the tournament concluded with a trophy and awards ceremony held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28. The awards were presented to the top-performing athletes by GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, Çayırova District Governor Ahmet Önal, and Darıca District Governor Yaşar Dönmez.

As part of GTU's mission to strengthen community engagement, promote sports, and enhance strategic collaboration with local authorities, the tournament is expected to become a longstanding tradition. The fifth edition is planned to take place next May, once again at GTU's modern tennis courts.
