July 1, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — Gebze Technical University (GTU) has received several prestigious awards at the 37th National Chemistry Congress, hosted by Atatürk University in Erzurum and organized under the coordination of the Turkish Chemical Society from June 24–27, 2026. — Bringing together approximately 600 participants from 73 universities and the private sector across Türkiye, the congress recognized GTU faculty members and students for their outstanding poster presentations in various fields of chemistry.
Among the award recipients, Zeynep Yağmur Yılmaz, an undergraduate student in the Department of Chemistry at GTU, received the Second Prize in Inorganic Chemistry, while Şükran Irmak Lefkur was presented with an Honorable Mention in the same category. From the Department of Chemistry, Lecturer Ayşen Orhan-Erkovan, PhD, also received an Honorable Mention in Inorganic Chemistry, and Saadet Dinç, PhD, was awarded Third Prize in Analytical Chemistry.
Scientific Contribution and Academic ExchangeThroughout the congress, researchers presented their studies in a wide range of fields, including analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, materials chemistry, environmental chemistry, energy applications, and nanotechnology. The achievements of GTU's faculty members and students once again highlighted the university's strong research infrastructure and academic excellence in the basic sciences. |
