June 29, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — The awards ceremony of the "Future Women Entrepreneurs Program," organized through the collaboration of Gebze Technical University, GTU Technopark, and the Gebze Chamber of Commerce, was held. — During the ceremony, GTU students' projects in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, healthcare, and sustainability were recognized with awards in various categories.
Projects developed by Gebze Technical University (GTU) students in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and healthcare received awards at the Future Women Entrepreneurs competition.
The awards ceremony for the Future Women Entrepreneurs Program, organized through the collaboration of the GTU Hype Social Entrepreneurship Club, GTU Technopark, and the Gebze Chamber of Commerce (GTO), was held at the GTO.
The ceremony was attended by Abdurrahman Aslantaş, President of the Gebze Chamber of Commerce; Yusuf Çalık, General Manager of GTU Technopark; Nagehan Malkoç, PhD, Head of the Department of Women and Family Services at the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality; Elif Özhuy, President of the Dilovası Women's Entrepreneurship Production and Business Cooperative; Tevhide Buğan, Director of the Gebze District Public Library; as well as GTO representatives, business leaders, and students.
As part of the program, projects developed by GTU students in the fields of artificial intelligence, biotechnology, healthcare technologies, energy, smart cities, and sustainable technologies were evaluated by a jury based on innovation, feasibility, sustainability, social impact, commercialization, and growth potential. Following the evaluation, Canan Kaplan received the Jury Special Award for the UNIWORK project, which supports independent employment opportunities by enabling young people to transform their talents into entrepreneurial opportunities.
The Third Prize was awarded to Ayşe Ebrar Bayram, Nergis Peksen, and Elif Sena Polat for BIO5TRACKERS, a project developing neuro-sensor-based smart intensive care kits that facilitate early diagnosis and continuous patient monitoring in intensive care units.
The Second Prize went to Elif Nur Ayhan, Feyza Nur Kuşkaya, Meltem Derya Özer, Aysima Karaas, and Melek Karakuşoğlu for BIO-SHIELD, an environmentally friendly coating solution designed to prevent fouling and bioaccumulation on marine products and equipment. The First Prize was presented to Simge Çelik and Fatmanur Aydın for CURAFLOW AI, an artificial intelligence-powered patient monitoring system developed for the healthcare sector.
In addition, the Gebze Chamber of Commerce presented Encouragement Awards to three projects that did not place in the competition but stood out for their innovative business ideas, with the aim of supporting the entrepreneurship ecosystem and encouraging young entrepreneurs. Hatice Günışık and Berivan Turak received an Encouragement Award for Women in Innovation, Kübra Demir and Elif Sude Durmuş were recognized for GROWING CAMPUS, and Siuzanna Akmatalieva received an Encouragement Award for KULPUNAI.
At the conclusion of the event program, awards were presented by officials to the winning teams and the recipients of the Encouragement Awards. By fostering an entrepreneurial mindset during the university years as a strategic priority, Gebze Technical University remains committed to its educational vision and social impact mission of preparing students not only for academic excellence, but also to become entrepreneurial leaders who create value, develop innovative technologies, and compete successfully on a global scale. |
