May 20, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — A prestigious educational partnership has been established between Gebze Technical University (GTU) and the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), an institution globally recognized for its academic excellence. — Under the collaboration, UC Berkeley’s pioneering and foundational data science courses, “Data 8” and “Data 100,” are being integrated into the curriculum of GTU’s Department of Data Science and Analytics. — GTU students will gain the privilege of directly engaging with one of the world’s leading data science programs and will have the opportunity to take an active role in international academic and professional networks. — This strategic initiative aims to strengthen GTU’s global competitiveness in the field of data science while providing students with the most current and highest-quality educational opportunities.
The Department of Data Science and Analytics within the Faculty of Science at has taken a visionary step toward enhancing educational quality at the international level and providing students with global academic opportunities.
As part of the collaboration established with one of the world’s most prestigious educational institutions, foundational data science courses developed by the “UC Berkeley College of Computing, Data Science, and Society” are being integrated into the GTU curriculum. In this context, the courses “Data 8: Foundations of Data Science” and “Data 100: Principles and Techniques of Data Science”, recognized among the leading programs in the field, will be incorporated into the undergraduate curriculum of the department.
