The “4th ENFEST Sports and Entertainment Festival for Individuals With Special Needs,” organized by Gebze Municipality to support the social integration of individuals with special needs, was held with enthusiastic participation from stakeholder institutions. Gebze Technical University took an active role both in the organization process and in on-site activities, sharing in the excitement of the participants.
The festival, held at Hünkâr Meadow, was attended by GTU Rector Professor Hacı Ali Mantar, representatives of the university’s Accessibiltiy Division, and numerous volunteer students. Throughout the event, GTU students actively participated in sports competitions and entertainment activities, accompanying individuals with special needs and contributing to the social implementation aspect of the project.
In his speech at the festival, Rector Professor Hacı Ali Mantar stated that universities must be recognized not only for academic and technical achievements but also for projects that create social impact. Emphasizing the importance of the university’s accessibility support initiatives, he noted that such efforts are considered just as essential as technical education within GTU. Rector Mantar said:
“From our academic staff and students to our administrative staff, the entire GTU family carries a significant responsibility in this regard. We do not limit our support for individuals with special needs and their valuable families to specific days or occasions. We will continue to strengthen this awareness through sustainable projects carried out throughout the year.”
Through its active contribution to the festival, Gebze Technical University has once again demonstrated its vision of institutional social responsibility. In line with its goals of creating an "Accessible Campus” and an “Accessible Society,” the university plans to continue expanding collaborative projects with local governments.
The festival concluded with a medal ceremony and commemorative photographs with participants. |
