“Prestige” Gathering of Science, Art, and Business at GTU

— The 13th Science and Technology Days, organized by the IEEE Student Branch of Gebze Technical University (GTU), reached its peak this year with the inaugural “BTG Prestige Night.”

— Distinguished individuals and institutions from a wide spectrum ranging from arts to digital media, and from cosmetics to retail, received their awards at the GTU Congress Center.

— The IEEE GTU Special Award was presented to Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş, who congratulated the students in his speech, while the Honorary Award was granted to the branch’s founder, Erdem Eraydın.

— Bringing together university–industry collaboration with a visionary perspective, the event united academic prestige and professional achievement on a single platform.

The Science and Technology Days (BTG), now in its 13th edition, organized by the IEEE Student Society of Gebze Technical University (GTU), continues its mission of being one of Türkiye’s most distinguished student career events. Held between April 28–30, 2026, the event brought together industry leaders and students and concluded with the BTG Prestige Night Awards Ceremony, organized for the first time. During the ceremony held on Thursday, April 30 at the GTU Congress Center, individuals, institutions, and projects that have made a mark in their respective fields were honored. The event was attended by Vice-Rectors Prof. Elif Damla Arısan and Prof. Mahmut Durmuş, Secretary General Nadir Yıldırım, academics, artists, institutional representatives, and many students.

Achievements, Aesthetics, and Science Under One Roof

Spanning three days and enriched by experience-sharing sessions of C-level executives, BTG culminated in an evening where elegance and achievement were celebrated. The ceremony, which combined GTU’s scientific identity with the dynamics of social life, offered participants a distinguished networking environment while providing students with valuable opportunities to engage with the professional world.

Industry Leaders and Stars of the Entertainment World on the GTU Stage

One of the most remarkable moments of the ceremony was when outstanding professionals from diverse disciplines received their awards. From respected figures in cinema, theater, and music to content creators shaping the dynamics of the digital age; from corporate brands leading innovation in retail, healthcare, and cosmetics to non-governmental organizations pioneering social solidarity, awards were presented across a broad spectrum. Determined by the votes of GTU students, these inspiring individuals and institutions were honored on a prestigious stage. In their speeches, award recipients expressed that receiving recognition from GTU students was a great honor and shared their appreciation for being on campus.

IEEE GTU Special Award Presented to Prof. Mahmut Durmuş

At the event, the “IEEE GTU Special Award of the Year” was presented to Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş, who also serves as the academic advisor of the GTU IEEE Student Branch. In his speech, Durmuş emphasized that guests participating in such meaningful events will always hold a special place in the university’s memory. He also congratulated the IEEE GTU students, the architects of the organization, for their dedicated efforts and institutional success. The Honorary Award was presented to Erdem Eraydın, the founder of the IEEE GTU Student Branch.

Collaboration Inspiring the Future

The BTG Prestige Night went beyond being merely an award ceremony, once again demonstrating the visionary perspective and organizational capabilities of GTU students. Bringing together university youth who will shape the future with leaders of the business and arts world in the same atmosphere, the event has become a success story that strengthens the university’s institutional identity and its motto, “Spread Your Wings to Science.”
