May 2, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — Collaboration has been initiated with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in the fields of cancer imaging, radiation safety, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. — Joint research projects focused on engineering, biotechnology, and sustainability will be carried out with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). — Student and academic staff exchange programs will be implemented between the two countries, and in the long term, dual degree programs will be established. — Infrastructure integration with Malaysia will be ensured in future-oriented technologies such as green hydrogen, renewable energy, and autonomous systems. — As a result of the meetings held with the delegation of Council of Higher Education (YÖK), GTU’s global scientific productivity and collaboration network have been strengthened.
At the Malaysia–Türkiye Higher Education Joint Committee Meeting, Gebze Technical University (GTU), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) have agreed to establish strategic collaboration in the fields of advanced technologies, health sciences, and sustainability.
Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, who took part in the delegation led by Prof. Erol Özvar, President of Council of Higher Education (YÖK), expanded the university’s international collaboration network through a series of engagements in Malaysia. In line with the decisions taken at the meeting, Gebze Technical University will carry out joint projects with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in three main areas:
Advanced Cancer Imaging: next-generation imaging technologies that will accelerate diagnostic processes Radiation Safety: development of protective standards in nuclear and medical fields AI-Supported Health Technologies: integration of intelligent algorithms into healthcare systems
Gebze Technical University and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) have also reached an agreement to enhance research and academic collaboration in engineering and advanced technologies, biotechnology and health sciences, as well as sustainability and environmental studies. Within this framework, joint research projects, academic staff collaborations, and student exchange programs are planned. The parties also aim to establish dual degree programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the long term. This collaboration is expected to make a significant contribution to the internationalization vision and scientific productivity of both institutions.
Furthermore, as agreed during the meeting, it is also aimed to integrate GTU’s research infrastructure with Malaysia in fields such as green hydrogen, renewable energy, and autonomous systems. |
