April 30, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations — The “Molecular Cell Biology Laboratory Handbook” has been introduced into the literature as a comprehensive reference resource that elevates students’ experimental processes to academic standards. — The instructional materials that have been used for years within the scope of the MBG333 course have been transformed into an up-to-date and systematic reference resource. — The book aims to strengthen students’ technical foundation in critical areas such as experimental design, data analysis, and laboratory safety. — Prepared with the financial support of the Gebze Technical Education and Research Foundation, the work has been presented to students as an educational resource.
The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Gebze Technical University (GTU) has introduced a laboratory handbook titled “Molecular Cell Biology Handbook”, prepared with the aim of enhancing the quality of applied science education and ensuring standardization in academic processes. Developed through the systematic, up-to-date, and comprehensive revision of instructional materials that have been used for many years within the scope of the MBG333 Molecular Cell Biology Laboratory course, the work serves not only as a course material but also as a high-quality academic reference resource.
Full Competence From Theory to Practice The handbook has been designed to enable students to carry out experimental processes more effectively, safely, and in line with international scientific standards. Through this resource, it is aimed that students will gain strong competence in translating theoretical knowledge into practice, developing experimental design, analyzing and interpreting data, and ensuring laboratory safety.
Institutional Collaboration and Academic Mentorship The project, realized with the financial support of the Gebze Technical Education and Research Foundation under the leadership of GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, represents a significant example of intra-university collaboration. Under the mentorship of Prof. Asuman Demiroğlu-Zergeroğlu, Head of the Cell Biology Program, the handbook was meticulously prepared by Research Assistant Mehmet Soner Türküner (PhD), Research Assistant Gülseren Turhal, and Research Assistant Ayşe Yazıcı. The first edition of the book was presented as a gift to students in the 2025–2026 Spring Semester.
Reflecting GTU’s educational vision, the work stands out as a notable success story that elevates academic standards in applied training processes within the department, while also exemplifying the integration of scientific vision with institutional support and internal collaboration.
