During the summit, Deputy Minister Boyraz delivers a significant presentation titled “Transportation Vision in the Century of Türkiye” and makes a strong call to young people for innovation and domestic production.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Boyraz recalled that previous generations experienced a loss of self-confidence due to mindsets discouraging initiative, often expressed through phrases like “don’t shake things up.” He emphasized that today, with the rise of the Teknofest generation and the support of universities, young people are increasingly turning toward innovation. Highlighting the distinguished role of Gebze Technical University in this field and the support provided by all levels of the state, Boyraz stated that young people should take an active role in shaping the country’s future through idea competitions and projects.
Providing a detailed overview of Türkiye’s strategic position and transportation vision, Boyraz cited major projects such as the Osman Gazi Bridge, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Çanakkale Bridge, the Eurasia Tunnel, and high-speed rail lines. He noted that through technological initiatives such as intelligent transportation systems, 5G-enabled roads, and the production of domestically developed national trains, Türkiye aims to enhance its global competitiveness. Addressing young people, he added, “As the leaders of the future, you will design the new transportation projects.”
GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, in his speech, emphasized that innovation and invention most often emerge from students and highlighted the importance of the university’s opportunities in this regard. He stated that, as the Rectorate, they provide strong support through workshops, offices, and student societies' activities to help students gain self-confidence, develop self-directed learning skills, and foster a culture of collaborative project development. Prof. Mantar also underlined that, with the opportunities available today, students have the capacity to produce projects at world standards.
The summit continued with panels where student projects were exhibited and participants had the opportunity to meet with industry representatives. |
