Within the framework of the PRESTIJ Research Fellowships Program conducted by the French Embassy, six of our researchers are awarded the opportunity to carry out strategic projects in some of Europe’s most prestigious laboratories.

A Strategic Step in Scientific Collaboration

Gebze Technical University (GTU) continues to strengthen its scientific impact on the international stage. The results of the prestigious PRESTIJ Research Fellowships Program, carried out by the French Embassy to reinforce scientific collaboration between the two countries, have been announced. Six academics from our university have been awarded these fellowships with their projects, making GTU one of the most successful institutions participating in the program.

GTU Signature in European Laboratories

Within the scope of the research mobility program, our academics will conduct critical projects at globally renowned French institutions such as Collège de France, Sorbonne Université, and Telecom Paris.

The projects supported under the program are as follows:

Prof. Rezan Demir-Çakan, Department of Chemical Engineering, GTU (Collège de France): “Stabilization of Antimony Anodes for Sodium-Ion Batteries through Advanced Cross-Linked Polymer Networks”

Asst. Prof. Birgül Cansu-Acartürk, Department of Civil Engineering, GTU (IMT Nord Europe): “Unraveling the Mineralogical Nature of Pozzolans: A Comparative Study between France and Türkiye”

Asst. Prof. Tülay Ayyıldız, Department of Computer Engineering, GTU (Centre INRIA – Sorbonne Université): “Symbolic–Numerical Certificates for Semidefinite Programming and Quantum Games”

Res. Asst. Fatma Nur Esirci-Oral, PhD, Department of Computer Engineering, GTU (Telecom Paris): “Learning-Based Analysis of Side-Channel Attacks in Digital Computing Systems”

Res. Asst. Muhammed Yusuf Öztürk, Department of Geomatics Engineering, GTU (Université de Toulouse – INRAE): “Automated Mapping of Global Poplar Plantations Using Remote Sensing and Artificial Intelligence”

Research Assistant Tutku Mutlu-Çetinkaya, PhD, Department Chemical Engineering, GTU (CNRS – LRCS): “Advanced Characterization of Anode Materials in Sodium-Ion Batteries Using Operando Techniques”

Global Academic Excellence

This achievement confirms the global competitiveness and academic excellence of our university’s researchers. Spanning a wide range of fields from cybersecurity to energy systems, these innovative studies once again demonstrate GTU’s strong position within the European research ecosystem.
