January 28, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Gebze Technical University ranks 375th in the QS Europe Rankings 2026, outperforming 61% of the institutions evaluated, and achieves first place among universities in Türkiye in both “Participation in Exchange Programs” and “Papers/Faculty” indicators.
According to the QS Europe University Rankings 2026 report published by the international higher education ranking organization QS, Gebze Technical University (GTU) has recorded a strategic rise. Among 958 universities evaluated, GTU has climbed to 375th place, thereby achieving a higher ranking than 61% of European institutions.
Türkiye’s Leader in Academic Productivity and Internationalization
In the comparison among 107 universities from Türkiye included in the rankings, GTU has attracted attention by ranking first nationwide in two key indicators: Papers/Faculty: In this category measuring academic productivity, GTU has ranked 1st in Türkiye, outperforming all other universities. Participation in Exchange Programs: Representing international engagement, GTU has also ranked 1st in Türkiye, becoming the country’s most successful institution in this indicator. Sustainability: Based on environmental and social responsibility criteria, GTU has ranked 4th nationwide.
A Research University at Global StandardsRecognized by QS as an "institution with Very High Research Intensity", GTU has also achieved strong results at the European level, ranking 65th in Europe for Papers/Faculty and 72nd for Participation in Exchange Programs. Having been placed in the 531–540 band in 2024, the university has shown steady progress over two years, reaching 375th place in 2026, confirming its rising trajectory in the European higher education landscape. |
