January 20, 2026 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Gebze Technical University (GTU) forges comprehensive collaboration with Erenköy Girls’ High School, one of Türkiye’s long-established educational institutions, with the aim of educating the scientists of the future.
With the “Social and Scientific Cooperation Protocol” signed between the Rectorate of Gebze Technical University and the Principal's Office of Erenköy Girls’ High School, the collaboration aims to enable high school students to take an early step into the academic world and benefit from the university’s scientific facilities at the highest level.
Academic Support for Scientific ResearchUnder the protocol, students of Erenköy Girls’ High School will be able to use GTU’s laboratories, measurement devices, and workshop facilities for their projects under conditions deemed appropriate by the university. In addition, the university library will be made available to both students and teachers.
Other prominent areas of cooperation include: Joint Projects: Joint project applications will be be submitted for TÜBİTAK and similar national and international funding programs. Academic Mentorship: GTU faculty members and students will provide mentorship and consultancy for projects carried out by high school students. Educational Activities: The university will organize coding and robotics training, laboratory-based workshops, and summer school programs. Career Guidance and Promotion: Campus tours and promotional events will be organized to allow students to experience university life.
The cooperation protocol was signed at the GTU Rectorate by senior representatives of both institutions, namely GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş and Erenköy Girls’ High School Principal Nihal Mert-Gedik, PhD.
Through the protocol, the collaboration seeks to support theoretical knowledge with practice and accelerate high school students’ access to technological innovations. |
