A sector visit organized in collaboration with the Gebze Technical University Technology Transfer Office (GTU TTO) and the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry (KCI) aims to strengthen university–industry collaboration. On January 13, 2026, industry representatives from the region examine the university’s academic expertise and technological infrastructure on site and evaluate opportunities for joint projects.

Scientific Infrastructure Introduced to Industry Representatives

Organized with the vision of strengthening collaboration among public institutions, industry, and the university, the visit hosted 17 representatives from 12 different KCI member companies. The event began with a presentation by GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Elif Damla Arısan, who introduced the university’s vision and the academic opportunities it offers.

Later in the visit, detailed information was provided about the units at the core of GTU’s research capacity. Prof. Leyla Çolakerol Arslan, Director of the Institute of Nanotechnology, and Prof. Faik Mikaîlzade, Head of the Department of Physics, presented the technical facilities and research capabilities of their respective units to the participants. Technology Transfer Office (TTO) experts Seçkin Saygılı and Cemal Yıldız shared strategic information on current R&D support mechanisms, as well as projects related to “Artificial Intelligence” and “Green Transformation,” which are among the most prominent items on the industry’s agenda.

Laboratory Visits Conducted

Following the presentations, the industry representatives visited the laboratories of the Department of Physics within the Faculty of Science and the Institute of Nanotechnology. The university’s potential solutions for companies’ needs in project development, testing, and analysis were evaluated on site.

This visit once again highlighted GTU’s goal of guiding industry through digital and green transformation processes and supporting national production through scientific methods. Following the laboratory visits, the event concluded by paving the way for new collaboration opportunities.
