Plant-Based Protein and Entrepreneurship Gathering Takes Place at GTU

Gebze Technical University (GTU) Institute of Biotechnology hosts the “Chat & Taste with Farmhood” event on December 25, 2025, within the scope of the EU-funded Excel4Pro Project. As part of the Excel4Pro Project (Strengthening the Capacity of Excellence Hubs of Türkiye, Greece, and Ukraine to Support Innovation Ecosystem of Novel Foods Based on Plant Proteins), which aims to enhance the capacity of centers of excellence in Türkiye, Greece, and Ukraine, plant protein–based food innovations are discussed.

 

The event began with a presentation introducing the Excel4Pro Project by Halil Daşgın, PhD, from the Food Technologies Research Group at TÜBİTAK MAM. In the talk moderated by Ayşe Sabuncu, Co-Founder of Impact Hub Istanbul and Foodback, Selin Arslan, Founder of Farmhood, shared her entrepreneurial journey and experiences in new product development. Bringing together academia and the entrepreneurship ecosystem, the program also featured a tasting of plant-based, high-protein products developed by Farmhood.
