GTU Academic Joins the TÜBA Young Academy Board of Directors

Assoc. Prof. Sadiye Velioğlu (PhD), a faculty member from the Institute of Nanotechnology at Gebze Technical University (GTU), is elected to the first Board of Directors of the Young Academy, newly established under the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA).

Established through the institutionalization of the TÜBA-GEBİP Award Program, which has been conducted by TÜBA since 2001 to support outstanding young scientists, the TÜBA Young Academy held its first board meeting in Ankara. The Board of Directors, meticulously selected from among 697 distinguished researchers who have received the TÜBA-GEBİP Award to date, consists of nine members representing the fields of Health and Life Sciences, Natural and Engineering Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Representing the field of Natural and Engineering Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Sadiye Velioğlu from GTU’s Institute of Nanotechology has been elected to this prestigious board and has officially started her duties.

Structured in alignment with comparable young academy models worldwide, the community will prepare scientific reports on thematic topics and contribute to TÜBA working groups. During her three-year term, Assoc. Prof. Velioğlu will actively engage in activities aimed at advancing Türkiye’s scientific development and enhancing the international representation of young researchers.

Assoc. Prof. Sadiye Velioğlu’s appointment further reinforces Gebze Technical University’s active role in shaping national science policies, in line with the university’s research-oriented specialization strategy and its vision of leading universal science.
