December 23, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations The international collaboration project involving Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Özbil, a faculty member of the Institute of Biotechnology at Gebze Technical University (GTU), as a researcher is awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 2515–COST Action.
In the project led by Prof. Tuğba Tümer from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, the mechanistic role of the PIN1 enzyme in endothelial cell aging will be examined. The project aims to elucidate the cellular aging processes underlying vascular diseases and to identify new therapeutic targets through the NRF2/KEAP1 axis.
New Targets in Vascular Aging Are Being Investigated The project titled “The Mechanistic Role of the PIN1 Enzyme in Endothelial Cell Aging” is being implemented within the framework of the CA20121–BenBedPhar COST Action. The study will focus on the cellular localization and activation of the PIN1 enzyme in physiological and premature aging models.
This significant study, to which Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Özbil will contribute as a researcher, will pave the way for innovative and pharmacological approaches to the treatment of vascular diseases in the long term. The project team also includes Adem Özleyen (PhD), Specialist from TÜSEB, as a researcher, while Assoc. Prof. Anna Grochot-Przeczek from Jagiellonian University serves as an advisor. |
