Based on the data shared by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) in the “University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report 2025,” Gebze Technical University (GTU) proves its success in many areas, ranging from academic performance to technology transfer. Ranking among the top 20 universities in 14 different categories, GTU is placed 5th nationwide in citation ratio and ranks first in Türkiye in exchange programs thanks to its success in academic mobility.
Academic Mobility: Number One in Türkiye
GTU has demonstrated outstanding performance in internationalization and academic exchange processes, ranking 1st in Türkiye in the category of universities sending the highest number of academic staff through exchange programs. In addition, GTU ranks 9th nationwide among universities hosting the highest number of academic staff within the same programs, proving its status as a globally attractive academic institution.
Leading Data in Scientific Publications and Quality
GTU once again has demonstrated its quality based on Web of Science–indexed data by ranking:
• 5th nationwide in citation rate,
• 7th in the number of publications per faculty,
• 13th most successful university according to QS World University Rankings criteria.
Success in Technology, Patents, and R&D
In the process of transforming knowledge into industry applications and patents, GTU ranks among the most efficient institutions in Türkiye as:
• 4th nationwide in the rate of successfully applied patents,
• 7th in the number of doctoral researchers employed,
• 15th in the number of TÜBİTAK scholarships granted,
• 18th in the number of students participating in technopark or TTO projects.

Within the scope of the National Technology Initiative, GTU stands out with its students and projects:
• 4th nationwide in the number of awards received in competitions,
• 7th in the number of exhibition stands opened,
• 10th in the number of students participating in competitions.

GTU has also maintained its strong position in social responsibility and environmental awareness. Ranking among the top 10 universities in Türkiye in the Climate Action category, GTU has been placed 8th nationwide in the number of accessibility inventory items, successfully sustaining its vision of an accessible campus.
