December 18, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Gebze Technical University (GTU) adds a new contribution to its academic support for local development. Lecturer Sinem Vural-Yurtsever and Research Assistant Halil Nurullah Oruç, faculty members of the GTU Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences, are awarded support under the “Support Program for Urban Studies in Graduate Research” conducted by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.
Historic Fountains and Water Resources Under Protection Lecturer Sinem Vural-Yurtsever has received Academic Paper Support for her study focusing on the cultural heritage and natural resources of the Gebze region. Her research aims to scientifically reveal changes in the water quality of historic fountains in the region through empirical data.
Title of the Study: Investigation of Hydrochemical Changes in Historic Fountains and Water Resources Located Within the Boundaries of Gebze District Scope: Temporal and spatial variations in the hydrochemical properties of water resources are analyzed using statistical methods. Objective: To propose a sustainable management model for the protection and transmission of culturally significant water resources to future generations
The Era of Artificial Intelligence in Water Quality Prediction Research Assistant Halil Nurullah Oruç has been awarded Doctoral Dissertation Support for his pioneering work in the field of water management and environmental technologies. His study aims to minimize prediction errors in water quality assessment by integrating traditional physical models with modern machine learning techniques.
Title of the Study: Prediction of Surface Water Quality Through the Hybrid Use of Physically Based Models and Machine Learning Techniques Scope: The impacts of natural and anthropogenic processes on water quality across different watershed types are examined through a comprehensive methodological framework. Objective: To strengthen decision-support mechanisms and ensure more reliable, science-based management of water resources
With its research-oriented vision, GTU continues to transform scientific knowledge into societal benefit and illuminate the future of the region. |
