Rural Architecture Atlas of Türkiye, edited by Asst. Prof. Merve Arslan-Çinko from Gebze Technical University (GTU) Department of Architecture is published.

Prepared with the contribution of the Chamber of Architects of Türkiye (TMMOB), the Rural Architecture Atlas of Türkiye aims to transform Türkiye’s rapidly disappearing rural architectural culture into accessible knowledge and make it available to the public. The open call launched in March 2025 to compile qualified academic research on the documentation of rural architectural heritage in Türkiye has received remarkable interest from experts working in the field, resulting in numerous submissions.

Organized into seven separate volumes representing the seven geographical regions of Türkiye, the Rural Architecture Atlas brings together studies conducted within two main frameworks: holistic examinations of valuable heritage in historic rural areas both in terms of settlement and architectural elements and detailed documentation of traditional houses in these environments.

Following the evaluation process, 90 qualified academic studies were selected and compiled into the Atlas, which was completed under the editorship of Assoc. Prof. Koray Güler of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and Asst. Prof. Merve Arslan-Çinko of the GTU Department of Architecture.

The project is available online at http://www.kirsalmimarlik.org.

This initial publication set marks only the beginning of a broader initiative, with plans to enrich the Atlas with new research every two years.
