GTU uses its open-source DSpace@GTU infrastructure to preserve its scientific outputs in line with international standards and to provide open access through its Institutional Academic Archive.
GTU Supports Open Science Gebze Technical University (GTU) has launched its “Institutional Academic Archive” system to collect, preserve, and offer global access to the intellectual capital produced within the University. With its open-source infrastructure, this system ensures that GTU’s academic data becomes transparent, manageable, and accessible through the collaboration of the GTU Directorate of Library and Documentation and the Directorate of Information Technologies.
Scientific Outputs Under One Roof All academic resources produced directly or indirectly by our University, such as books, articles, theses, conference papers, reports, and research data, are gathered in a digital repository that complies with international standards. The system not only stores these resources but also indexes them, ensures long-term preservation, and provides Open Access in accordance with copyright regulations. This enhances the monitoring of GTU’s academic performance while also increasing the visibility and impact of the knowledge produced.
A Call for Open Science From the GTU Library Salim Yıldız, GTU Library and Documentation Director, stated: “As the GTU Library, we are firmly committed to supporting the free and open dissemination of scientific knowledge to all segments of society. Strengthening open access not only enhances the academic visibility of our University but also enables our researchers’ work to generate faster, broader, and deeper global impact. With the understanding that knowledge grows when shared, we closely follow all developments in open science and open access, and we continue our efforts to provide our researchers with the most up-to-date, reliable, and robust academic infrastructure.”
