December 8, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Gebze Technical University (GTU) certifies its international success in campus sustainability with the 2025 results of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. Steadily improving its environmental performance, it ranks 543rd in the global list.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, which compare the environmental impacts and sustainability efforts of university campuses worldwide, have been announced. With the score and ranking it has achieved, GTU has further strengthened its position in the global list.
In this year’s ranking, where a total of 1,745 campuses from 105 countries were evaluated, GTU ranks 543rd, moving to a higher position compared to the previous year. The university has continued its upward trend with an 8.01% increase in its overall sustainability score compared to last year. Its rise to 4th place in Türkiye in the Transportation category, in particular, stands out as a strong indicator of GTU’s successful environmentally friendly transportation policies.
GTU’s progress is based on tangible practices across the six key categories defined by UI GreenMetric. These criteria are: Setting and Infrastructure, Energy Management and Climate Change, Waste Management, Water Efficiency, Transportation, and Environmental Awareness in Education.
Through the optimization of green areas on campus, energy-efficiency projects, and environmental responsibility initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint, GTU has demonstrated that it meets GreenMetric standards and continues to advance in this field. These results once again show that Gebze Technical University is strengthening its environmentally conscious campus vision and successfully representing its sustainability efforts on the international stage. |
