December 5, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations In line with the International Day of Persons With Disabilities on December 3, GTU Accessibility Division hosts students with special educational needs and disabilities from Darıca Mehmet Akif Middle School, along with their parents, on campus. The event, which brings together sports, arts, and music, convey strong messages of solidarity and inclusiveness.
Gebze Technical University (GTU) once again hosted an important event within the framework of its social responsibility values and inclusive university vision. Organized by the GTU Accessibility Division in recognition of the International Day of Persons With Disabilities, the program welcomed students from Darıca Mehmet Akif Middle School and their families to the GTU campus.
A Day Enriched with Sports and Arts Held in the university’s sports hall, the event offered children with special educational needs and disabilities the opportunity to enjoy physical activities through specially-designed tracks created for them. Dance activities accompanied by rhythmic music and colorful painting sessions, where children expressed their imagination, provided memorable and enjoyable moments for all participants.
An Atmosphere of Solidarity and Warmth Filled with the children’s energy and heartfelt interactions, the event highlighted feelings of affection, sharing, and solidarity. The presence and support of GTU’s academic and administrative staff added meaningful value, strengthening the friendly exchanges and warm atmosphere.
Moral Support for Families The event served as an important source of encouragement not only for the students but also for their parents. Families emphasized the motivational and uplifting impact of such gatherings, noting that spending quality time with their children in a social environment offered a refreshing experience. Conversations with parents underscored the significant moral support these events provide to families.
