December 2, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Awards are presented in the "Young Designers Aşıklar Tepesi Urban Design and Architectural Idea Project," organized within the scope of the YOUrban-KentSenin Project, carried out in collaboration with Çayırova Municipality and Gebze Technical University (GTU).
Supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) under the European Commission, the YOUrban-KentSenin Project, led by Asst. Prof. Funda Tan-Bayram from the GTU Faculty of Architecture, has aimed to produce innovative solutions through participatory processes in the fields of urban design and innovation.
The award ceremony, held at the Çayırova Municipality Cultural Hall, was attended by Çayırova Mayor Bünyamin Çiftçi; GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Hasari Çelebi; Prof. Elif Özlem Aydın, Dean of GTU Faculty of Architecture; Prof. Kutlu Sevinç-Kayıhan, Head of the Department of Architecture, as well as numerous students and invited guests.
In his speech, Mayor Çiftçi emphasized the importance of the collaboration with Gebze Technical University. “Whatever we do, we have always acted by putting science at the center. This project emerged as a result of the dialogues we have established with GTU, and we will continue to work with GTU in the light of science,” Çiftçi said, also highlighting the strategic location and future importance of Çayırova.
Equivalent First Place Awards Went to Three Teams The ideas developed by young designers within the project were evaluated by the jury, and the awards were presented to the winners.

In addition, teams from various universities, including GTU, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, which were awarded honorable mentions and special jury prizes, also received their awards from the officials. |
