Strong Collaboration in Education With the Çayırova District Directorate of National Education

A comprehensive collaboration protocol is signed between Gebze Technical University (GTU) and the Çayırova District Directorate of National Education to support students’ academic, scientific, and social development.

 

Gebze Technical University (GTU) has added a new partnership to its ongoing collaborations with stakeholder institutions. The “Mutual Assistance and Cooperation Protocol,” aimed at sharing the university’s knowledge and expertise with high school students, has been implemented between GTU and the Çayırova District Directorate of National Education.

 

The signing ceremony took place on November 21, 2025, at the GTU Rectorate Meeting Hall. The protocol was signed on behalf of the university by Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş and on behalf of the Çayırova District Directorate of National Education by District Director Recep Demir.

 

Rector Prof. Mantar: “We Will Open Up New Horizons for Our Youth”

During the ceremony, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar hosted Çayırova District Director Recep Demir at his office and highlighted the importance of the university’s contributions to education in collaboration with local stakeholders. Rector Mantar stated that he believes the signed protocol will provide high school students with new visions and emphasized that the activities to be carried out will serve as significant guidance in students’ career journeys. District Director Recep Demir expressed his satisfaction with the support and collaboration provided by GTU and thanked the university administration.

 

Academic Support and Mentorship Opportunities

The protocol, valid for one year and extendable upon mutual agreement, aims to contribute to the academic, scientific, cultural, and social development of students and teachers. It encompasses a wide range of activities, from scientific seminars delivered by GTU academics to joint project workshops conducted by high school and university students.

 

The main initiatives to be implemented under this collaboration include:

Academic Seminars and Mini Academy: GTU academics will organize trainings, panels, and scientific talks on current topics such as artificial intelligence, climate change, and entrepreneurship.

Mentorship and Career Planning: GTU students will mentor high school students, providing guidance on university preparation and career planning.

GTU Campus Days: Students from Çayırova will have the opportunity to explore the university’s laboratories, faculties, and research centers on site.

Project Collaborations: Mixed teams of high school and university students will develop scientific and social projects, and will also collaborate on Erasmus+ and other international project applications.
