The business idea titled “FarMi Synbiotic,” developed by Faruk Barbaros Kalyoncu, a master’s student in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MBG) at Gebze Technical University (GTU), with Assoc. Prof. Mine Gül Şeker from the same department as a partner, has been awarded the “Seal of Excellence” under the TÜBİTAK Individual Young Entrepreneurs (BiGG) Program.

FarMi Synbiotic is a biotechnology initiative aiming to develop an innovative and safe synbiotic approach against Nosema ceranae infection observed in honey bees. In addition to offering a solution that enhances bee health, the initiative also adopts an R&D vision focused on contributing to sustainable beekeeping practices and developing microbiota-based products for various agricultural needs in the future.

This achievement highlights not only the strong scientific research capacity of the GTU MBG Department but also its role in providing an academic environment that supports the entrepreneurship ecosystem and fosters the development of innovative business ideas.
