A New Licensing Achievement in Biotechnology From GTU

Gebze Technical University (GTU) has achieved another significant technology transfer milestone that strengthens university–industry collaboration. The patent titled “Recombinant Bacillus thuringiensis That Kills Mosquito Larvae and Its Method,” developed at our university, has been exclusively licensed to Doğa İlaçlar Company. This agreement marks the second patent licensing realized as part of GTU’s commercialization activities.

 

The patented technology stands out with its environmentally-friendly nature, high effectiveness, and strong potential to offer solutions in the field of public health. The commercialization process was carried out in coordination with CETLİS Consulting, together with the GTU Research Coordination Office and the GTU Technology Transfer Office.

 

Statement by GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar:

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Mantar emphasized the university’s scientific productivity and commercialization vision and stated the following:

 

“As Gebze Technical University, we embrace a research vision that responds to both scientific and societal needs. This licensing process is a strong example of how knowledge produced at the university can be transformed into economic value in a strategic field. Each commercialization in the areas of health and biotechnology strengthens our country’s capacity to develop innovative solutions.”

 

Statement by Hacı Osman Dalkürek, Founder of Doğa İlaçlar:

Dalkürek commented on the importance of the agreement for the company as follows:

 

“This collaboration with GTU is a strategic step that strengthens our R&D vision in biotechnology. The technology we have licensed supports our mission to develop innovative solutions for public health while establishing a strong model in which the university’s scientific expertise and the industrial experience of our company come together. We greatly value the coordination provided throughout this process.”
