November 18, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Master's students of the Department of Management at Gebze Technical University (GTU) carry out a meaningful environmental responsibility project within the scope of the “Ethics in Business Life” course taught by Prof. Meral Elçi. In the event titled “Keeping My Campus Clean: GTU Environmental Awareness Project,” the students both contribute to the cleanliness of the campus and present an exemplary initiative to promote sustainability awareness.
The project was planned and implemented in coordination with the GTU Sustainability Office. Announcements were made both through the official channels of the Sustainability Office and via Gebze Technical University’s social media accounts, reaching a wide audience of students and staff. This collaboration aligned strongly with the university’s environmental sustainability objectives.
Campus Cleaning at Various Locations Within the scope of the project, students and volunteer participants carried out comprehensive cleaning efforts at key points across the campus, including: • Cafeteria areas • The main university entrance and the surroundings of the Faculty of Business Administration • The surroundings of the Library and Güzide Café
At the end of the activity, approximately 14 bags of waste were collected and disposed of in designated waste collection areas. In this way, participants directly contributed to the physical cleanliness of the campus while fostering public awareness regarding environmental ethics and sensitivity.
The main purpose of the project was to create lasting and sustainable environmental awareness by reminding everyone that it is not the environment that needs humans, but humans who need the environment. Having ethical values gains meaning not only when learned theoretically but when put into practice. This project was an opportunity for us to apply what we learned in the “Ethics in Business Life” course. Every piece of waste collected on our campus became part of the promise to leave a cleaner world for the future.
