Gebze Technical University (GTU) hosted the 2nd international meeting of the Erasmus+ project titled "CESynergy - Circular Economy Synergy for Energy Transition" between October 20–25, 2025. Project partners from Poland, Germany, Portugal, Italy, and Türkiye came together to evaluate the ongoing work on integrating circular economy approaches into the education system within the context of the energy transition. The meeting was attended by Prof. Selçuk Toprak (GTU Project Coordinator), Prof. Banu Çetin, Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Balçık, and Research Assistant Oğuz Dal from GTU.

During the meeting, participants exchanged ideas on the project’s current progress, developed e-learning modules, teaching materials, and upcoming dissemination activities. They also planned pilot applications for project outputs such as the “Circular Economy Pathways for the Energy Transition” e-learning course and the “e-compendium of knowledge.”

The CESynergy Project aims to raise awareness about circularity, sustainability, and resource efficiency in energy systems while equipping educators with innovative teaching tools. The project’s main objectives include:

         • Empowering educators
         • Fostering pedagogical innovation
         • Enhancing awareness of circular economy principles in energy systems

In line with these goals, the project develops comprehensive educational materials and teaching methodologies based on circular economy approaches for energy transition.

The project consortium is coordinated by the Silesian University of Technology (Politechnika Śląska) in Poland and includes the University of Bremen from Germany, the University of Lisbon from Portugal, Gebze Technical University  from Türkiye, Training 2000 from Italy, and the Institute of Innovation and Responsible Development (INNOWO)  from Poland.

The meeting held at GTU has strengthened the exchange of knowledge and experience among international stakeholders and further enhanced collaboration in the field of sustainable energy education.
