October 27, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations The workshop on rare earth elements, which focuses on exploring collaboration opportunities in strategic material fields, is held at Gebze Technical University (GTU) under the coordination of SAHA Istanbul.
Coordinated by Prof. Mustafa Türkmen, Member of the SAHA Istanbul Material and Material Forming Committee and faculty member at GTU Institute of Transportation Technologies, and chaired by Celalettin Kırboz, Chair of the SAHA Istanbul Material and Metal Forming Committee, the “Rare Earth Elements (REE) Workshop” took place at GTU with broad participation from relevant institutions and companies.
The event was attended by GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş, representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, SAHA Istanbul, TÜBİTAK, various universities, and the industrial sector.
During the workshop, participants exchanged knowledge in strategic material fields that contribute to Türkiye’s technological independence and evaluated collaboration opportunities related to the production, processing, and sustainable use of rare earth elements.
Supported by GTU’s scientific infrastructure and research-oriented approach, the event shed light on the future of materials that play a critical role in the defense, energy, and high-technology industries. |
