October 27, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Middle East Technical University (METU) hosts the 9th Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Aircraft Competition this year, sponsored by the aviation giant Boeing, where Gebze Technical University (GTU) makes a remarkable impression.
Four GTU project teams, GTU-PUHU, GTU-MERLIN, GTU-PUSAT, and G-TURK UAV, successfully represented the university in the finals. The teams completed the challenging mission scenarios with outstanding performance and achieved notable rankings.
At the end of the competition, GTU-PUHU team secured second place in Türkiye, while GTU-MERLIN, operating under the GTU Aerospace Club, ranked third. Another team from the same club, GTU-PUSAT, claimed fourth place, showcasing GTU’s growing expertise in the fields of aviation and aerospace.
With these achievements, GTU has further solidified its leadership in Vertical Take-Off and Landing UAV technologies, contributing significantly to Türkiye’s national goal of advancing technological innovation. |
