October 21, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Gebze Technical University (GTU) takes on a significant component of the Twice-Exceptional Project, funded by the European Union, which aims to support individuals who possess both giftedness and developmental differences. The project seeks to enrich educational processes through artificial intelligence-based solutions.
Supported by the European Union Erasmus+ K220 Program, the Twice-Exceptional Project focuses on individuals who are gifted but also experience differences such as Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It aims to strengthen their emotional, social, and educational development.
Within the project, led by Assoc. Prof. Şener Şentürk from Ondokuz Mayıs University, Assoc. Prof. Selçuk Topal from GTU’s Faculty of Science, Department of Mathematics, is responsible for the development of the project’s most technological output, the E-Platform component, as well as dissemination activities.
Assoc. Prof. Topal’s contributions, particularly in developing e-learning and AI-based applications, will play a crucial role in providing personalized and dynamic educational materials for twice-exceptional individuals.
The project aims to enhance the quality of life of these individuals and their families through three main outputs: the “2e (Twice-Exceptional) Awareness Training Program,” “Socio-Emotional Development Program,” and “E-Platform.”
With GTU’s scientific and technological contributions, the project seeks to create an innovative and inclusive learning environment that enables twice-exceptional individuals to fully realize their potential. |
