October 7, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Bilge Duru Gürsoy, a student of Environmental Engineering at Gebze Technical University (GTU) and also its Climate Ambassador, plays a significant role in the preparation process of Türkiye’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 3.0, a roadmap for the country’s fight against climate change. On August 28, 2025, Gürsoy attended the Interministerial Meeting on NDC 3.0 held in Ankara as a member of the NDC Committee, successfully representing GTU.
The meeting, organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, focused on the draft of NDC 3.0, which will be updated to include Türkiye’s 2035 targets. One of the key priorities of this process is to ensure that NDC 3.0 is sensitive towards the perspectives and needs of children and youth. The preparation process, conducted in collaboration between the Directorate of Climate Change and UNICEF Türkiye, aims to promote the representation of young people and the integration of their rights and needs into national climate policies.
Within this framework, GTU student Bilge Duru Gürsoy had the opportunity to directly convey the expectations, solution proposals, and policy opinions of young people regarding the climate crisis to ministry representatives. Her participation demonstrated that GTU contributes not only through its scientific research but also through its students who actively engage in national policymaking processes. |
