September 29, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Feyza Kılıç, a student at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Gebze Technical University (GTU), achieves second place along with her team in Anadolu Group’s prestigious “Bi-Fikir KAP” (“Grab an Idea”) Idea Competition with their innovative project, BioMalt.
The student team led by Feyza Kılıç received full marks from the jury for their BioMalt project, which aims to produce moldable biodegradable material using waste malt residue. This initiative, which offers an environmentally-conscious and sustainable solution by valorizing malt residue, a significant byproduct of beer production, holds great importance for waste management and the circular economy.
BioMalt promises both economic and ecological benefits with its potential to serve as an alternative to traditional petroleum-based materials. The project sheds light on the material technologies of the future by focusing on waste valorization and reducing environmental pollution.
The Bi-Fikir KAP (“Grab an Idea”) Idea Competition, organized by Anadolu Group to support young entrepreneurs, hosts hundreds of innovative projects each year. This year, the second-place achievement of the BioMalt project has once again highlighted GTU’s competence in innovation and entrepreneurship. |
