September 25, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Gebze Technical University (GTU) takes a strategic step by signing key MoUs with six Polish universities during the Forum of Rectors of Türkiye and Poland. Hosted by Gazi University, the forum aims to strengthen academic collaboration between the two countries.
At the forum, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar completed the official signing process for cooperation with Poland’s leading technical universities. The universities that signed the agreements include Silesian University of Technology, Poznan University of Technology, Białystok University of Technology, Koszalin University of Technology, AGH University of Krakow, and Cracow University of Technology.
These agreements lay the groundwork for collaboration in numerous areas such as joint project applications, exchange programs, and dual-degree programs between the two countries. Joint project applications for international funds, particularly from the European Union and NATO, have been identified as one of the key objectives of these collaborations. Additionally, conducting mutual Scientific Research Projects (BAP) and developing student–academic staff exchange programs such as Erasmus+ are among the highlighted items in the MoU texts.
As some Polish universities participated at the vice-rector level, their signing process will continue online. These universities include Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw School of Economics, The Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow, Poznan University of Life Sciences, and Rzeszow University of Technology. This is seen as an indication that the network of agreements will continue to expand.
Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar: “This Is Just the Beginning” Speaking as one of the session chairs at the forum, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar emphasized that the signatures represent only the beginning. “These collaborations should not remain only on paper,” said Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, adding that the signed agreements need to transform into concrete projects and mutual benefits. He highlighted that joint degree programs and new projects to be conducted with the support of the Foundation for Polish Science will make significant contributions to the scientific and technological development of both countries.
The Forum of Rectors of Türkiye and Poland is highly significant for establishing a sustainable collaboration platform between the universities of the two countries. GTU’s strategic steps contribute substantially to expanding its scientific and academic influence on the international stage. |
