Gebze Technical University (GTU), which has started the 2025–2026 Academic Year, prepares its new students for university life with a comprehensive orientation program.
Gebze Technical University (GTU) is welcoming its new students to the 2025–2026 Academic Year with an orientation program themed “Your Journey at GTU Begins.” To be held between September 22–24, 2025, the program aims to help new students make a strong start to university life and began with activities designed to support adaptation to academic, social, and cultural life.
The opening of the program took place on September 22 at the GTU Congress and Cultural Center. In his address to the students, Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş emphasized that they should take full advantage of all the opportunities offered by the university to build a well-equipped career. Prof. Durmuş stated: “GTU is a large and well-established family. In the next stages of your education, exams, projects, and intensive studies will be waiting for you. However, these processes are not only about passing courses but also a great opportunity for you to establish a strong position in your future profession. Our goal is to prepare you for life in the best possible way, both academically and personally.”
On the opening day, a presentation titled “Your Journey at GTU Begins” was also delivered by GTU Press and Public Relations Manager Çağatay Aktürk and Assistant Manager Çiçek Tomrukçu, PhD. The presentation provided detailed information about GTU’s history, academic structure, international collaborations, Erasmus opportunities, campus life, student clubs, and social responsibility projects. Academics, alumni, and students were also invited to the stage to share their experiences and offer advice to the new students.
Orientation Program To Continue As part of the orientation program, faculty- and department-specific information sessions will be held on September 23. Introductions will be given for the Departments of the Faculties of Business Administration, Architecture, Science, Engineering, Aerospace, as well as the Cyber Security Vocational School. In addition, an informative presentation will be delivered by the Department of Foreign Languages.
On September 24, important topics related to student life will be addressed. Presentations will be given by the Directorates of Student Affairs, Health, Culture and Sports, and Library and Documentation. In addition, with contributions from the Career Development Center (KAGEM), the Technology Transfer Office (TTO), and GTU TECHNOPARK, a session titled “Career and Entrepreneurship at GTU” will be held. Continuing with introductory activities of student clubs, the program will also feature presentations from the Social Impact Coordination Office, Accessibility Division, and the Sustainability Office on volunteering and social responsibility activities.
