September 18, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations The 2nd Workshop of the COVER Project, coordinated by Gebze Technical University, is held at the University of Maribor.
The second workshop of the “(C)ombinatorial (O)ptimization for (V)ersatile Applications to (E)merging u(R)ban Problems” (COVER) Project, coordinated by Gebze Technical University (GTU) and supported by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, took place from September 8 to 12, 2025 in Maribor, Slovenia, hosted by the University of Maribor.
During the workshop, consortium members shared mathematical models and solution approaches based on combinatorial optimization to address urban challenges, and planned the roadmap for the project’s next phases. GTU’s COVER Project team members Prof. Didem Gözüpek, Prof. Sibel Özkan, Asst. Prof. Hadi Alizadeh, Research Asst. Fatih Yetgin, and Research Asst. Aslıhan Gür participated in the event. Presentations were delivered by Prof. Didem Gözüpek, Prof. Sibel Özkan, and Asst. Prof. Hadi Alizadeh.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration for Urban Solutions The COVER Project aims to develop innovative solutions in smart cities and sustainable urban development by applying combinatorial optimization, graph theory, and operations research methods. Coordinated by Gebze Technical University, the project consortium includes Boğaziçi University and Optiyol A.Ş. from Turkey; University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology, Jit Team, OMGGS, and Citibike from Poland; University of Primorska and University of Maribor from Slovenia; University of Cadiz and University of Coruna from Spain; Stellenbosch University and University of Pretoria from South Africa; and University of Fribourg from Switzerland. |
