July 24, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations Gebze Technical University (GTU) and TRMOTOR Power Systems Inc. sign a significant cooperation protocol at the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF), aiming to contribute to Türkiye’s goals in the aviation and defense sectors. The agreement is signed by GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, TRMOTOR General Manager Prof. Osman Saim Dinç, GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Hasari Çelebi, and TRMOTOR Subsystems Director Serdar Aksoy, PhD. According to the agreement, the Hangar Building B of the GTU Aerospace Faculty is to be utilized as an "Engine Subsystems Test Center."
The signing of the protocol at an internationally-significant event like IDEF once again highlights the critical role of university–industry collaboration in the defense sector. Such collaborations, carried out within the scope of Türkiye’s domestic and national defense initiative, represent major steps toward strengthening the country’s technological independence.
The establishment of the “Engine Subsystems Test Center” aims to support the development of innovative engine subsystem projects, combine academic knowledge with industrial experience, and enhance Türkiye’s R&D capacity in the aviation and defense industries. This collaboration is expected to accelerate critical testing and development processes for domestic and national engine projects and reduce foreign dependency.
With the implementation of this project, GTU’s strong academic infrastructure and TRMOTOR’s industry expertise will be brought together to make significant contributions to Türkiye’s goals in domestic production and technological advancement in the aviation and defense sectors. |
