Gebze Technical University's (GTU) 2024–2025 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony is held in a festive atmosphere at the GTU Congress and Cultural Center with the participation of associate, bachelor's, and graduate students. The graduates proudly toss their caps in the air after completing a challenging educational journey.
The ceremony was attended by Osman Boyraz, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure; GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar; Çayırova District Governor Ahmet Önal; Prof. Abdurrahman Akyol, General Manager of TEKNOPARK Istanbul; Dursun Ali Arslan, Deputy Mayor of Gebze Municipality; Abdurrahman Aslantaş, President of Gebze Chamber of Commerce; and GTU senior administration, academic staff, students, and their families.
The event began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, followed by an opening speech delivered by Deputy Minister Osman Boyraz. Sharing in the excitement of the graduation, Boyraz emphasized the personal importance of being a GTU alumnus and expressed his belief that the graduates would go on to shape the future of the country.
GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar highlighted the university’s deep-rooted history, research-oriented structure, academic achievements, and the strong positions of its alumni in professional life. He noted that graduation is not merely a certificate, but a symbol of character, responsibility, and ethical commitment.
Neslihan Başaran (PhD), Alumni Office Coordinator and President of the Alumni Association, underlined the importance of maintaining communication with graduates. She emphasized that solidarity among GTU alumni and the sharing of experiences are vital for sustaining the university identity.
Representing the graduating students, Burak Mete Yiğit, valedictorian of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, expressed gratitude on behalf of his peers, highlighting the values, friendships, and experiences they gained at GTU.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of graduation certificates to graduate students and plaques to top-ranking students in their departments. Doctoral graduates received their diplomas and were formally robed. Graduation certificates were then presented to all graduates by faculty members. Students from the Graduate School, the Cyber Security Vocational School, the Aerospace Faculty, the Faculty of Business Administration, the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Science received their diplomas with great pride.
The graduation oath, led by GTU Vice Rector Prof. Elif Damla Arısan, marked a ceremonial highlight as the graduates tossed their caps, celebrating this meaningful milestone.
The event concluded with a group photo session, where graduates, their families, and academic staff shared unforgettable memories together.
As the GTU family, we wish all our graduates continued success in this new chapter of their lives and firmly believe that they will make us proud with their future accomplishments. |
