The strategic cooperation protocol between Gebze Technical University (GTU) and the Liquid and Bulk Product Transporters Association (LİKİTDER), covering projects to be carried out in the fields of scientific collaboration, green transformation, education, culture, and social responsibility, was enacted at a ceremony held on June 24, 2025, at the GTU Congress and Cultural Center.
High Attendance at the Ceremony The signing ceremony was attended by GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, Vice-Rectors Prof. Mahmut Durmuş and Prof. Hasari Çelebi, LİKİTDER Chairman Yusuf Tetik, and members of the association’s board. At the opening of the ceremony, GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş delivered a presentation titled "Green Transformation Projects in Industry." The presentation shared examples of projects conducted at GTU, industry collaborations, and the activities of the Technology Transfer Office and GTU Technopark. Additionally, information was provided regarding industry organizations’ participation and application processes for these projects.
“GTU Is Also Your Home” In his speech at the ceremony, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar highlighted Gebze Technical University’s rich history, its vision of development intertwined with industry, and its approach prioritizing public benefit. The Rector emphasized that having the university located in Gebze is a great responsibility, stating, “If we are to grow from here, we must grow together with this ecosystem. You have come here today, GTU is also your home.” Rector Mantar expressed that the university is concerned with producing practical benefits through academic work, adding, “If a model or solution we develop is used in the field, then that is our greatest success.” He stressed that universities are not commercial entities, and their primary mission is to generate science and bring that science to society.
In his speech, the Rector also underlined the importance of university-industry collaboration and shared that meetings with LİKİTDER members inspired the development of new ideas. “Without your expertise, it would not be possible for us to recognize some needs. When you explain the sector’s problems to us, we roll up our sleeves to develop solutions,” he said, expressing that the cooperation supports mutual development.
Projects Aimed at Benefiting Society The signed cooperation protocol aims to conduct studies that benefit society between the university and the association, and to enable students and staff to benefit from these projects. Within the framework of NGO-university cooperation, training programs, cultural events, and social responsibility projects are planned.
Full Support for Cooperation from LİKİTDER LİKİTDER Chairman Yusuf Tetik expressed their satisfaction with establishing such cooperation with GTU and wished for the protocol to turn into a successful and productive process. He stated their belief that the cooperation would create a strong bridge between the sector and academia.
This protocol between GTU and LİKİTDER is regarded as an important step that will accelerate both academic and sectoral development as well as contribute to society. |
