Twelve staff members at Gebze Technical University (GTU) are awarded First Aid Certificates in a ceremony after completing their training. The total number of certified first aiders at GTU reach 78.

Certification periods updated for 12 staff members
Under the First Aid Regulation, GTU has renewed the certificates of eight staff members whose previous certifications had expired. With four additional staff members becoming eligible, a total of twelve personnel received First Aid Certificates. These new certificates, valid for three years, were presented in a ceremony attended by the university administration, following the first aid training sessions organized by the Provincial Directorate of Health.

"These certificates are symbols of social responsibility"
Speaking at the certificate ceremony, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar emphasized that this training, based on voluntary participation, reflects not only a sense of personal responsibility, but also awareness toward others and the society.

Rector Mantar stated, “Voluntarily taking part in such training is a reflection of your sensitivity toward the community. Taking on this responsibility without being required to do so is truly admirable. One of the most valuable actions in your life might be saving someone’s life.”

Emphasis on social impact
Prof. Mantar personally congratulated each certificate holder and stated that GTU stands out not only for its academic success, but also for its strong sense of social responsibility. He added that such volunteer-driven efforts help strengthen institutional culture and increase the university’s impact on society.

Vice-Rector Durmuş also attended the ceremony
GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş was also present at the event. He congratulated the participants and highlighted the importance of first aid awareness both in professional life and daily activities.

First aid training expanding at GTU
Gülhan Kocabaş, GTU Disaster and Emergency Management Division Manager, stated that new training programs are being planned and that the goal is to involve more staff members in the first aid certification process.
