"Hello Summer" Concert at GTU Meets With the Audience

GTU Turkish Classical Music Choir welcomes the audience with a joyful concert marking the start of summer. The “Hello Summer” concert, organized by Gebze Technical University’s (GTU) Turkish Classical Music Choir composed of academic and administrative staff, is held on the evening of June 23, 2025, at the GTU Congress and Cultural Center. The event brings together university staff, students, and art lovers for an evening of music and celebration.


Continuing a Cherished Tradition
In his opening speech, GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş emphasized the significance of Turkish Classical and Turkish Folk Music concerts, which have become a cherished tradition at the university, in uniting the community through the arts. He expressed his pleasure in welcoming all participants to GTU.


Highlighting the Unifying Power of Music
In her address, Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Soyer-Sarıca, Chair of the GTU Turkish Classical Music Choir, underscored the universal and unifying power of music. She noted that the concert offered a warm and spirited start to the summer season and wished the audience an enjoyable evening.


Unforgettable Performances Grace the Stage
In the first part of the concert, the GTU Turkish Classical Music Choir, conducted by TRT Istanbul Radio soloist and choir conductor Seda Gökkadar, performed a repertoire of beloved pieces from Turkish classical music. Featuring both solo and choir performances, supported by accomplished instrumentalists, the concert earned great acclaim from the audience and offered a memorable musical experience.


Powerful Voices Share the Stage
The second half featured a solo performance by Seda Gökkadar, whose powerful voice captivated the audience and drew enthusiastic applause. The evening gained additional color with the participation of TRT singer Murat Seçkin, who joined Gökkadar on stage for several duets.


Closing With Gratitude and Recognition
The concert, hosted by Instructor Özer Baykay, concluded with a final group performance by the GTU Turkish Classical Music Choir and guest singers. Following the enthusiastic applause, Prof. Mahmut Durmuş, Prof. Gönül Yenilmez-Çiftçi, and Prof. Fatma Yüksel presented appreciation plaques and flowers to artist Seda Gökkadar, as well as to Mobel Kimya representatives Mustafa Özhabeş and Mehmet Kayalar for their sponsorship support.


Held in an unforgettable atmosphere, the concert offered participants an evening filled with the joy of music and art.
